Dear all,
I am glad to join this forum. I am currently begining playing the duduk after several month fighting with a dry reed rigidity and not to transpose on it my recorder knowledge (I play some other instruments). I was first introduced to the duduk by the French jazzman Didier Malherbe (Hadouk Trio) which first amazed me with the expressivity of the instrument and its design turned to the basics. Of course, after finding a duduk in a German store, I also interested myself to its Armenian's roots (currently listening to Lévon Minassian). My current experience - the duduk being my first double-reed instrument - is that it is an instrument that might be long to master (do one ever master an instrument?) and which will lead me to much discoveries in musical language. At the moment, my main concerns are trying to have a regular sound and to work on notes duration before trying circular breezing that seems important. I look forward for your help and advises. |
