I just received a Andranik Simonian Duduk for Christmas with 3 reeds. I am learning quite a bit from this forum already. I was wondering how much we are supposed to rely on the bridle for keeping the reeds at the correct opening. I am working on conditioning the reeds as described on this site. Most of the reeds are open a bit too much for comfortable playing and the bridle seemed to help initially, but now it is not really closing it up at all. Is there a way to tighten the bridle with the string so that it compresses tighter?
Also, when "wetting" the reed, do I wet the whole thing or just a few drops inside? Maybe a short video showing the proper wetting techniques and conditioning would be helpful. Thanks! Jason |
