Hi. I bought duduk a few months ago on ebay and got 2 reeds. When I listening my recordings I am frustrate 'cause sound of my duduk isn't resonate and warm. When I listening duduk recordings from mini series Children Of Dune or movie Alexander sound is resonate, warm and low tune is very ancient and majestic. In my opinion my duduk produce poor sound. My reeds are withouth leather. How size should be reeds especially to C duduk and leather make that duduk tone is better?

C duduk Reed by it's self most be tuned to D - just the reed no duduk

leather make that duduk tone is better - no it' s just to help / prevent from cracking

you need to find the best sounding reed for your duduk, try medium or hard reed's

no you can't

A duduk reed is tuned to C, some times C# ( after playing it will go flatter )

My duduk applicature is different than this one on duduk.com.

I play wit six holes. When I cover 6 top holes and thumb hole I get C
when cover 5 holes and thumb I get D, --when 3 and half of 4 I get E (this is not standard applicature) rest notes is the same like on duduk.com
Problem with E is because I have bad reed?

c duduk will have - all open C & #6 C - the rest is just the way your instrument is made,

Thank you for this info. On ebay I found also interesting value for money with duduk reeds. The seller yerevan_333 sells reeds but wrote to me that this reeds are for C duduk and the same for A duduk too - no info about name of master. The seller eduduk sells reeds for C, D, A duduk etc. made by Andranik Simonian (SIMON) and this duduk reeds looks better that this which I got wit ebay a few months ago with my duduk. I hope that somebody know something about SIMON reeds and have any recordings with this reeds. People on ebay in comment are writing that sound is very good (but when I got my duduk after first day of playing I said wow I had ancient, exotic instrument which produce amazing sound - but now I know that sound is different than this one I listen in many recordings).

you can make some of your A duduk reed to work w/ C duduk, but you need to know what to do and how to tune and fine-tune it w/ your duduk
