Hello Duduk-lovers,
I have a question: are there also Ramishes out of synthetic material available? It would be great. It may sound a bit less good than Cane but it would be a great thing for long practises without preparing the reed with water and so first (and holds for 20 min only). If this not exist, somebody should develop it. Regards, WJ |

Regards, WJ Welcome to duduk forum we did work on synthetic reed but could never get it to sound good, not even ok sound it was meant for practicing if you practicing on your fingering you can just as easy use an SHVI in key of a w/ F# it will be same as A duduk - you can work on your fingering technique, but if your trying to master duduk and your playing the one and only way is to use a traditional reed, as you play the reed it will start "obeying" you the sound will be nicer... one day wan we have more free time i might start / continue working on synthetic reed Good Luck Moses -------------------- ...: † :...Powered by Apricot Juice ...: † :...

Thank you for response. See my reeds on my Flickr photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/michal18c this reeds are without leather on it and one reed is thin and the second is thick - that mean that one is harder to play and the second is easier? I think that it's good to learn, but I stated that are differences between scales of playing this reeds. Duduk body is 33cm and it's in key of C (that wrote me seller from ebay).

HI
The scales will be the same if the reeds are tuned the same way.. but not the sound, you get a nicer more warmer sound as you advance to harder reed's Soft reed is the easeast to play / recommended to beginners Medium reed easy to play / some refer to it as a melody reed Hard reed - hardest to play the best sound -------------------- ...: † :...Powered by Apricot Juice ...: † :...

I think that I have one hard reed and The second soft or medium.
Medium, soft hard reed are the same long, differences are on circumference? Regards, Michael -------------------- "You must have this instrument inside of yourself, if you play duduk like saxophone, you'd better not play" - Levon Minasyan

Regards, Michael differences is the hardness of the material, it can be in same length / wider / but still be in same tuning, it all equals to what tuning the reed is in and haw hard it is to play -------------------- ...: † :...Powered by Apricot Juice ...: † :...
