hey guys

i just bought my first duduk. i don`t know much about the instrument and trusted the words of the guy selling it and i still do. i payed about 200 dollar for it.
the seller told me that the maker is a guy called gasparyan.

do any of you guys know this maker?
the initials on the duduk are the letter k.
and the letter a cause it is a a duduk.
i got it with 3 reeds.

one which is easy to use.
the second one with a brown leather on the sides is a bit harder.
and the third with a red leather on the sides and this one in allmost imposible to make a sound with
which is oke casue i`m just starting.

can anybody tell me if they know the maker.

the duduk sounds great and i think is quite easy to play (i know it is hard in the beginning)

i can already play al the notes with the first 2 reeds
and play some half notes with the first reed.

greetings
marcel.

hey thanks,

what do you mean by closer to the top?

the letter k is at the end where the reed is.
on the right side between the last hole and the hole on the bottom.
so when you hold the duduk the letter k is on the right side.
and at the hight of between the two holes but on the right side.
i hope you understand cause my english is not the best on this planet smile.gif

How much do you offer them for? 240 dollars? Because that's 194 Euros...

Do they come with black velvet cases with gold trims.

lets see smile.gif

EUR to USD on 04/22/2010 1.34070 - so 200 Eu = $268
on April 22 duduk.com was offing duduk made by KM ( karen ) $175

No sorry smile.gif can't offer them with black velvet cases + gold trims at this price. smile.gif

PS: the gold trim that you see on some duduk's is not just design, master & the duduk need to earn it by participating in a Mejlis ( contest between duduk players or any other musicians ), or if he played for someone like "King-Quine", he would of received a gold/silver trim smile.gif this was the way in the old days, the master earned it and the whole world would of talked about him and his duduk, now days anyone that can pay gets a gold trim...

Good luck smile.gif

Lol... Hey moses, i meant gold on the velvet cases themselves. I have two duduks, and they came in the black velvety covers with gold on the covers.

I always wondered about the gold on the bottom end of some duduks... I don't know how much of an impact that would have on the tone. But no i don't want one with gold on it, not only have i not earned it, but also, i'm a humble man & like having a humble instrument.

I'm not really bothered too much now about different duduks, When i get my technique to be good (still have too many bad habits still, like my embouchure..) I'll start thinking about fancy duduks.

Cheers

Hello
back in days wan i was just starting ( 1995~6 ) was looking for duduks that look good or duduk that masters played and had such gold silver bands designs + keys on them , i did not know much and the sound for most part was the same to me, but now that i know and that i have learned and accustomed to pure sound of duduk i avoid adding anything to my instruments. i look for that sound and would never add anything on to my duduks, not only it effects the sound but anything you fasten on it ( screws nails... keys.. ) will make the instrument weaker.. it's up to the owner of the duduk, add something and face the risk of cracking your duduk...

the bets duduk that i have is an 1960is MKS that don't eve look good...

sorry need to go, wife called.. baby on it's way
