Hi,
I have two reeds, one is perfectly playable. The other is very much open. It wasn't at first. The topic about reeds says: 'you need to get enough moisture in it to make it playable, it makes it more flexible / playable then hold the reed ( the way you see it in the picture )- and genteelly pres and twist your thumbs do this 3 or 5 minutes at the time before and after you play the reed'. But the dvd says, after you play, put the cap on and store it. That's what I did, the next morning it was way too open. Did I do something wrong and how to fix this? |

Hello #1 do not soak the reed in water !!! Reed: you need to get enough moisture in it to make it playable, it makes it more flexible / playable then hold the reed ( the way you see it in the picture )- and genteelly pres and twist your thumbs do this 3 or 5 minutes at the time before and after you play the reed: you do this to help get rid of the buzzy sound that some soft & Med reed's, it helps to make the opening of the reed even, after you do that you need to close the cap and store it. now that the reed, some reeds to have the tendency or do open much faster then the others, so if it's staying open, let it dry w/ the cap on it, then before playing you need to get enough moisture in it to make it playable, it makes it more flexible / playable then hold the reed ( the way you see it in the picture )- and genteelly pres and twist your thumbs do this 3 or 5 minutes at the time before and after you play the reed, -------------------- ...: † :...Powered by Apricot Juice ...: † :...

I do not soak it in water I just blow some hot air in it and wetten my lips a little bit, it is enough. The tight one is perfectly playable, the one that is really open not at all. So I am 'playing' on that one so it has a chance to change shape. One last thing, the good reed, when I put it in the duduk, it is completely crooked. Is this a problem?
