Some things are perfect just like this... when no words need to be spoken because the music just speaks for itself.

When I was younger I had the privelage of being invited to play my sax overseas in Papua New Guinea.

It was strange because even though I could not speak the local languages too well, there were times when I was jamming and performing with them, that we understood each other perfectly.

Best,

Ben H

Now that must have been a priceless musical
experience! Did they have a syncopated percussion
rhythm? What about the modulation from key to
drum beat? You should have recorded it.
That must have been a precious moment
in trans cultural music time!

Yes it was.
No recordings I am afraid, but etched onto my memory forever.

True.

I couldn't film anyway since I was playing... but I suppose I could've palmed the camera off to someone else.

Sadly I have not played in too long now, and my other committments take away from my time to practise.

When I pick up my sax and blow I nearly cry for the "chops" I have lost.

i do have one other such video - it's for Vache Hovsepyan - in it - most all of the Duduk players of Armenia and Gregorian are playing in remembrances to the grate master - on the end Jivan Gasparyan is playing "solo" and the rest 40 to 50 are standing in circle and holding a "dam"
it is an interesting video - - i need to transfer to NTSC - it's in PAL
